The Crazy Peak Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support research and activities that focus on addressing three interlocking areas of concern that lie at the heart of Sustainability:
Environmental Conservation: We cannot survive in an unhealthy home. Historically, human practice has been to use up the environment in wasteful ways, without thought of future generations who will live on and cultivate the same land, soiling our air and water, destroying ecosystems, driving species to extinction, changing our climate in dangerous ways, and ushering in a raft of pollution-linked health issues.
Education: We cannot survive and thrive long term without a healthy society, and education is the single most important determinant in supporting a well-functioning society and improving standards of living. Research shows that education level is positively correlated with increased income, improved health, and lower crime rates.
Sustainable Economic Development: For us to thrive long term, we need economic activity that generates real value over an indefinite time period, that does not do so at the detriment of certain spheres of society, and that depends only on sustainable food, fuel, and materials that will not get used up over time.
We believe that the above 3 areas are foundational pillars that lead toward improved long-term outcomes for humanity and the world, and that in order to guarantee the long-term thriving of humanity, we must base our existence on a non-extractive model. Extractive approaches ‘use up’ our world in various ways and thus by definition can sustain us for only a finite period of time and also result in degradation of quality of life, as resources -- whether that be clean air, food, or fuel -- start to run short.
The Crazy Peak Foundation pursues its mission through charitable giving to well-respected organizations focused in our target areas as well as through direct grants and awards for specific projects that align with our mission. We maintain an optimistic yet pragmatic view of the future. We know that solutions to these challenges exist or will come into existence through our human ingenuity, but they do not happen on their own. We must work hard and fight for a better tomorrow for us all.
